Which finish is recommended for extreme weather conditions?

TESA HOTEL offers highly durable finishes for the most demanding conditions. Chrome, stainless steel and PVD perform best, both in tropical countries with high temperatures and humidity and in areas with a large temperature difference between day and night. The PVD coating keeps the finish unchanged for at least ten years and resists UV radiation, harsh cleaning products and scratches, for example from rings.

How many openings do the locks record?

TESA HOTEL locks, readers and electronic cylinders record up to 1,000 openings or opening attempts in their non-volatile memory.

Why does the outside handle turn freely when the door is closed?

On TESA HOTEL locks, the outside handle turns freely as long as the mechanism is not activated. This prevents the lock from being forced: a fixed handle can be used as a lever to force the lock and can damage the device.

How can I best protect rooms against break-ins?

For high security, TESA HOTEL offers a lock with an automatic deadbolt. Every time the door closes, the 20 mm security deadbolt projects automatically, with no action needed from the guest, whether they are in the room or have left.

Can electronic locks be fitted to armoured doors?

Yes. The DONNA and SPY locks, as well as the proximity electronic cylinders, can be fitted to armoured doors with multi-point locks. This is very useful for holiday rental apartments.

Which lock suits a traditional (rustic) door?

Electronic cylinders: they replace the existing mechanical cylinder by changing just one screw, with no drilling or routing, so the door stays intact.

Can existing electronic locks be upgraded at low cost?

Yes. With TESA HOTEL you can replace only the outer part of the lock and keep the inner part and the original mechanism. This is the purpose of the “Plan Renove”, which significantly reduces costs.

When should I change the battery? Is data lost when it runs out?

Before the battery runs out completely, the lock gives a warning with flashing red and green LEDs when a magnetic stripe card is inserted or a staff proximity card is presented. In wireless read and write systems, the warning appears in the software. No data is lost, because the locks have non-volatile memory.
